Collaborative Research Group with the Institute of Nature and Environmental Technology

Outline of research

Various chemicals are emitted into the environment with the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum and biomass. Among them, although their concentrations are low, many carcinogens such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) typified by benzo[a]pyrene are contained. At the same time as developing the ultra-sensitive analytical methods for PAHs, we are also conducting research on elucidating the environmental dynamics of PAHs in East Asian countries, which are supported by the mass consumption of energy and are rapidly developing economic industry.
