Main Research Interests
- Design and development of novel reactions and materials based on characteristics of diverse elements
- Element and synthetic chemistry towards drug discovery
- Elucidation of physical and chemical phenomena utilizing theoretical calculation and spectroscopy
Outlines of Research
Pharmaceuticals are generally composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen atoms expressing their medical effects through interactions with biomolecules, and organic chemistry, that deals mainly with those four elements, has been contributing in their design and synthesis.
In our laboratory, we are striving for development of synthetic methodology for introduction of various other elements, that have been underutilized so far, to organic molecules in order to expand the chemical space for both basic research and medicinal applications such as drug discovery.
