Drug Metabolism and Toxicology

Most administered drugs are metabolized by drug-metabolizing enzymes to hydrophilic compounds, resulting in the facilitation of excretion. Drug metabolism is closely related to drug-drug interaction, and also to individual differences in drug response and toxicity. The main focus of our research is as follows:

  • Research on drug-metabolizing enzymes to facilitate drug development and appropriate use of medicine
  • Research to uncover the mechanisms of post-transcriptional regulation of drug-metabolizing enzymes
  • Research on mechanisms of drug toxicity to predict and prevent adverse reactions
